Caravel Academy, as the recipient of DIAA sportsmanship awards, expects all student athletes, fans, coaches, and officials to display respect, fairness, and honesty before, during and after all athletic contests. As models for their children, we expect adults to uphold the same high standards that we ask of our students regarding respect for officials and the opposing team. Opposing team members, fans, and game officials shall always be treated as honored guests at home and worthy adversaries when away.
We participate because we believe that competitive team experiences offer our students opportunities to test their abilities and learn from others who are similarly talented. Our many team activities also contribute significantly to the development of character, mutual support, school spirit and sportsmanship. Competition against other schools enables our student athletes to develop and demonstrate respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials as well as fair play.
Caravel Academy offers athletic teams based on student interest and facilities available each season. Although academic life is the priority at our school, our Board of Education strongly supports our athletic teams as well. Students in grades six through twelve have the opportunity to represent their school in interscholastic athletics in accordance with the DIAA (Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association). Varsity sports involve competition with other teams statewide.
SINCERELY,
Craig Bailey

Mr. Banks has a long and distinguished coaching history, starting with his time as an assistant at Caravel Academy in the early 2000’s.
