Shhhh. . . Monsters Sleeping
Please, Do Not Disturb. This was the sign that hung on the middle
school girls' locker room door for the better part of the second
semester. This became home for more than 60 "Screamers" in
process.
These Monsters were being created in Mrs. Bradley's
three Studio Art Classes. The students worked every day
on this project known as "Go ahead, make something
ugly for a change" based on the art of Dan Reeder.
They faced adverse conditions (being stuffed in a dry
shower) and marched countless miles (being carried back
and forth from the art room to the locker room) getting
covered in paint and spackle and learning the hard way
that "Gee, maybe Mrs. Bradley was right, aprons DO
work."
From the beginning when body parts hung from the
ceiling like a bad horror movie to the final presentation
at the Spring Fine Arts Festival, these Screamers stole
the hearts of everyone involved.
When asked if Mrs. Bradley's classes would be doing
this next year, her reply was "probably, but on a
much smaller scale." Watch out for the invasion of
the "Pocket Monsters."
