Positive attitudes and development of high self-esteem are important lower school goals. Students learn to accept responsibility for their academic progress and behavior. Heavy academic emphasis is placed on basic math and reading skills. Social studies and science are taught by units from grade one. All students receive instruction in art, music, physical education, library use, and computer. Foreign language instruction begins in Kindergarten.
Students who have demonstrated academic excellence, an ability to work independently, and an eagerness to go beyond the basic curriculum are offered the opportunity to participate in Enrichment classes. These classes offer the highly motivated student a chance to explore new ideas in a multi-disciplinary approach.
